Contract Dates: July 6th, 2026 until August 29th, 2026
Rate of Pay: $17.60 per hour + 4% in lieu of vacation

MyCommunity Services (MCS) is a non-profit organization established in 1987, consisting of diverse professionals dedicated to enhancing newcomer community engagement. We work with newcomers to facilitate their settlement and integration into Canada. We offer a wide range of services and learning opportunities to connect newcomers to a better future in the ever-changing Canadian society.
Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, design and implement various mechanisms to enhance the effectiveness of marketing and communication materials focusing on the services provided by MCS to reach target groups.
- Support and update all of MCS social media platforms and be responsible for creating all publically delivered social media content.
- Create flyers and brochures to create public awareness of the services offered by MCS.
- Perform administrative duties, including managing intake forms, entering data into database, maintaining records as well as answering the phone and helping the front desk.
- Support staff in creating online sessions and phone conferencing with clients.
- Assist in the preparation of the Annual General Meeting Booklet as per guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Graphic Design, Multimedia, Visual Arts, Digital Media, Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with newcomer families and other professionals.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Able to multi-task and set priorities.
- Computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Canva; experience in graphic design and/or web design is considered an asset.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion, and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of diverse newcomers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; other language skills will be an asset.
- Police Record Check for Vulnerable Sector is required as part of hiring process.
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Must be available to work Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00AM and 7:00PM.
- Is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Foreign/international students are not eligible).
- Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
- If selected, students must be able to commit for the entire duration of the contract without any requests/requirements for time away from work (NO VACATION TIME WILL BE APPROVED FOR SUMMER STUDENTS).
- Dependents of MCS employees are not eligible to apply.
