The purpose of a senior drop-in program is to reduce the risk of the social isolation of immigrant seniors who have limited access to culturally sensitive activities.
Hosting a senior’s program provides a platform where seniors can share their life skills, experience and interests amongst their peers in a socially supportive environment preventing loneliness and isolation.
This weekly drop-in program gives seniors an opportunity to interact with one another, network, make new friends, plan and get involved in activities. This group also provides a platform for seniors to utilize their experience and time constructively to share thoughts and viewpoints.
Activities in the Senior Connection Program include:
- Arts and Crafts
- Poetry
- Field trips
- Discussions on topics of interest
- Light exercise
This social interaction empowers seniors by maintaining better mental and physical health and improving self-esteem.
